Rose’s Run will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013. SmartDrive sponsor Delmarva Broadcasting is planning an interview with Emilie Bakey (Rose’s Mom) and Race Director Bill Gambogi after the 1 PM news on WDEL on Friday, March 8.
Rose Eldridge was a junior at Charter School of Wilmington when she was seriously injured in a car accident on March 19, 2005. The driver and the other passenger in the car, both friends and classmates of Rose, were killed in the accident. Rose survived the accident, but suffered a severe brain injury.
Rose was a member of Corpus Christi’s track & field and cross country teams from the time she was in fourth grade through eighth grade. After Rose’s accident, a group consisting of her former coaches and friends felt that Rose’s Run would be a great way for our community to show love and support for Rose and her family.
Rose is now confined to a wheelchair, has limited use of one hand, and can nod her head to answer questions. Rose is now twenty-four years old and considered an adult. Rose’s mother, Emilie, is a single parent and essentially Rose’s main caregiver—getting her up each day, dressing her, feeding her, washing her, changing her, taking care of all of her bodily functions, and transporting her to doctor appointments. Your support of Rose’s Run helps support Emilie to continue to care for Rose.
It has been over two years since the last Rose’s Run and we are very pleased and excited to be holding the seventh Rose’s Run on Sunday, March 10, 2013. Registration for Rose’s Run 2013 is now open. Also, we will always accept any additional donations. Checks should be made payable to “Rose’s Run”, and mailed to Rose’s Run, c/o Frydrych, 108 Churchill Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808. We appreciate your support and your prayers for Rose and her family. Thank you very much!
